BMW M Turns its Back on Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) - Embracing a New Era

While traditional manual gearboxes still have their loyal enthusiasts, there's no denying the appeal of a well-designed DCT or PDK gearbox for a sports car. Renowned brands like Porsche and Ferrari have long championed the advantages of double-clutch technology in delivering optimal performance. Surprisingly, BMW has been gradually moving away from DCT transmissions. It began with the previous-generation M5, which returned to a conventional automatic transmission. Subsequently, the latest iterations of the M3, M4, and most recently, the M2 have been introduced without DCT. Are there any BMW models still available with DCT? Yes, but only the front-wheel-drive models, including the 1 Series, 2 Series Gran Coupé, and 2 Series Active Tourer. Notably, this excludes the 128ti, M135i, and M235i.
